Colouring books

Your photos, ready to colour in

For whoever’s in them: Mum, Grandad, the grandchildren, and the dog, who’s in most of them.

It’s the daft ones you keep.

Example photo: a grey-haired woman photographed from knee height, trying not to laugh, her ringed hand lunging towards the lens, a lit lamp behind her.
The colouring page our tools drew from that photo: the same woman trying not to laugh, her ringed hand reaching towards the lens, with the lamp behind her, in black outline, ready to colour.

Look inside

  • Up to 20 of your photos, one drawn on each page.
  • The colouring book, closed, on a kitchen table beside its opened cardboard mailer and a mug of tea: a green cover with a gold double frame, the title The Hartleys and the words A colouring book.
Your own title on the cover.
  • The colouring book open on a kitchen table: a blank left-hand page and, on the right, a drawing of a couple at a pub-garden table, with felt-tip pens dropped beside it.
  • Two hands at a kitchen table, one holding a red felt tip to a page of the book: a drawing of a man asleep in his armchair in a paper crown.
  • The colouring book lying closed on a kitchen table beside a mug and three felt-tip pens, seen low down to show its size and its thin edge of pages.
21 × 28 cm on smooth silk paper. Felt tips and gel pens work best.
  • A page from the book held on a fridge door by a red magnet: a drawing of a family at Christmas with the dog's nose filling the front of the picture.

How it works

  1. Example photo: a grey-haired woman photographed from knee height, trying not to laugh, her ringed hand lunging towards the lens, a lit lamp behind her.

    1. Choose 5 to 20 photos

Straight from your phone. Close-ups in daylight work best.

  2. The colouring page our tools drew from that photo: the same man asleep in his wing armchair in a paper crown, a napkin at his collar and the cracker under his hand, with the lamp, the tree and a glass on the side table, in black outline, ready to colour.

    2. Watch 3 pages drawn, free

On screen, while you wait. No card, no account.

  3. The colouring book open on a kitchen table: a blank left-hand page and, on the right, a drawing of a couple at a pub-garden table, with felt-tip pens dropped beside it.

    3. Check every page, then we print

We draw the rest, you approve every page, then we print your book near you and post it, tracked.

Printed book or printable pages

The whole A4 colouring page our tools drew from the photo of the woman from knee height, her hand reaching for the lens.

  • Example photo: a baby's feet in a sage-green footed sleepsuit on a white waffle blanket, seen from straight above, with the shadow of the phone on the blanket.
  • Example photo: the same baby's feet a few seconds later, the left foot crossed over the right, in a sage-green footed sleepsuit on a white waffle blanket.
  • Example photo: the same baby's feet apart again, in a sage-green footed sleepsuit on a white waffle blanket, seen from above.

The baby asleep. And asleep. And asleep.

If it’s not right, we’ll make it right.

If anything arrives damaged, faulty or not as you approved it, send us a photo within 30 days of delivery and we’ll remake it free or refund you, whichever you prefer. You don’t need to send it back. This doesn’t affect your legal rights, which still apply after 30 days.

How the pages are drawn

Our tools draw each photo as clean black line art, and a person checks every page beside its photo before it’s printed. We never use famous characters or copy anyone’s art style. How we make our pages.

Why does it cost more than a colouring book from the shop?

Because it’s made once, for you. Every page comes from your own photos and is checked by a person beside its photo. Then the book is printed to order near you, with tracked delivery in the price.

What if it doesn’t look like them?

You see for yourself before you pay: 3 pages from your own photos, free, with no card. Close-ups in daylight work best. After you order, we email you every page, and you have 24 hours to swap a photo or ask for a redraw. If we don’t hear from you, we take it as a yes. If it then arrives not as you approved it, our promise covers it.

What if they’re not arty?

They don’t need to be. Nobody’s marking it, and there’s no wrong colour for Grandad’s jumper. They’re colouring in their own family.

Is it all right to use photos of children?

Yes, if you’re their parent or guardian or have their permission. How we keep your photos safe.

Can you send it straight to them?

Yes. On the payment page, put their address as the delivery address and we’ll post it straight to them.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

We deliver to the UK, the US (except Illinois), Canada (except Quebec), Australia and New Zealand. Sending to someone there? Choose their country, and you’ll see the price in their currency. Anywhere else, leave your email and we’ll tell you when we deliver there.
